Studying the AI - RacerBG - 05-28-2015 While I need to study for the exams at the university I discovered another interesting topic which needs studying - the ICR2 AI. While the AI in ICR2 is not the smartest one, definetely it's brakes usage is horrible! Usually at lower strength levels (80%) the AI should be consistent. For example it should be slower at the straights and slower at the corners. But the AI is VERY slow at the corners and not so slow at the straights. It's not hard to fix that and this what I will do. EDITED: Thanks for the intervention, CowtownBob. RE: Studying the AI - Dennis - 05-29-2015 Try to lower the RELS value in the 'track.txt' files, probably it will have the effect you desire. RE: Studying the AI - CowtownBob - 05-29-2015 While you will be able to affect each individual car's acceleration and cornering ability, etc. editing drivers2.txt won't speed them up in corners and slow them on straights. For that you will need to edit each track's .lp files. Keep playing with drivers2.txt, because tweaking it will let you get a more realistic-acting carset, just not quite what you were talking about. It lets you adjust the individual AI cars relative to each other, so if you want the cars all running together in a pack or have them string out, that's where you control it. You can even set it up to have multiple classes running. When I did a couple carsets (champ97, cart1998) I spent a fair amount of time with drivers2.txt, testing and tweaking, to get what seemed to me like a fair recreation of the actual field. |
