Patching issues 1.0 to 1.2
#1
Hey everyone, I realized I had an outdated version of ICR2 so I decide to use the 1.0 to 1.2 patch. I got my disc and copied the contents of the ICR2 folder to my pc and then added the contents of the patch folder to it that directory. I then ran the "PATCHICR" file through DOSBox. The patch ran fine until it got to:

Applying MODIFY File Patch for 'QUALACE.STG'

then it read:

error ept0015: File does not exist

It then exited the patch and back into the folder. I'm guessing the patch failed? I don't know why because this was a fresh install from the disc. Any suggestions for applying the patch successfully?

Thanks.

A couple of thoughts/questions that you might run with and reply back to:

1) Can you confirm that the original version of the game that you're trying to patch is 1.0.0 and not 1.0.1?  (I ran into similar issues when I tried to use the 1.0.0 -> 1.0.2 patch; turns out I had the 1.0.1 version of the game on my CD!)
2) Does the error occur while patching for a particular track - if so, which track are you getting the error message for?  (Not sure this will matter - but if the error message occurs after successfully patching any other tracks, it might help diagnose the problem.)

Best of luck in your efforts!

1. How can you tell which version you have? The Readme just has basic installation instructions and nothing that says 1.01 or whatever.

2. It patches alphabetically. So any file it patched went from A all the way to P. It successfully patched Portland but then it went to Q and tried to patch the QUALACE.STG and failed.

I'm getting the exact same error. I'm upgrading from version 1.0.0. Tracks Australia to Portland are apparently patched. Toronto and Vancouver are apparently are not.

I too had difficulty updating years ago. The game needs to be EXACTLY original with NO modifications to patch correctly. Once I got it to work, I saved a "unmodified virgin patched zip" with everything. You may be able to download my patched version if you wanted to test it to see why yours is not working.

For #1: if you watch the load-in information that's posted in Dosbox, you'll (very!) briefly see the version number of the program show up on screen (just before the ICR2 load screen).  You might also have a readme.txt file that shows what version the program is.

I'll try to dig some more into #2... thanks for the info!

I realize this message wasn't intended for me, but - that would be fantastic!  Smiley  Is there a download link already available?  (I ask because of the troubles I've been having with certain additional tracks - testing with someone's version of ICR2 might help me figure out my own issues...)

Ok I tried the 1.01 to 1.02 patch and it failed almost immediately. So I'm pretty sure I have 1.0 on my disc. Again I did this from a clean install.

Ok well I've exhausted all the options I can think of. The game always fails the 1.0 to 1.2 at the same place and the 1.1 to 1.2 patch doesn't even start before it fails. This is as clean of an install as I can get. I have NO other files that Papyrus didn't include. Would anyone know where I can just download version 1.02 of the game?

I downloaded Dos version from "My Abandonware" website. it's patched & has extra tracks and car-sets. Absolutely fantastic. You could give this a go.
It runs smooth with none of the problems I variously battled with for years (eg mouse "x" error selecting inputs)

And BIG thanks to the person who uploaded it to that site
