If you open a 3do using a hex editor, or even Notepad, you can usually see the names of the mip files towards the beginning of the file.

True, if you want just list of mip files. But if you want see which texture is assign to polygon then click 'Edit Polygon' in 3doEdit. There you wiil see polygon color and texture name.

I made my horizon as a mix between google maps photos and some trees I stole from super monaco gp1 for sega genesis....

the waterpark you can see in front of the mountain is cut and paste from the actual youtube video of the 1985 race...

I have to fix the fact that you can see through the middle of the track... these are just some pictures from ope in drive mode

I know my clouds suck- I will figure out how to fix them up later....

That's a nice horizon, makes you feel like you're right by a forest.

Thanks - Do you see in the first picture I posted that while you are on the banking you can see the "hole" where the track is not? (if you look carefully you can see the bottom of the horizon)

How do I patch that up? Is the easiest way to put a large green polygon throughout the entire middle of the track? I know I saw you guys talking about this once before, maybe it was on Dennis's thread....

Yes, I would do it so. Maybe later you can improve it with textures and objects, if you don't like it. Or you can do it with Pavel's method, adding an extra banked surface in SGE/SFE left to the inside wall.
That part, where the track doesn't appear is much more complicated. That was the point, where I stucked. If possible, you could make longer sections, maybe the drawing distance would increase. It's also possible to import the track sections as TSOs, like I did, but I haven't figured out, how to get a perfect result.

Looks promising. But grandstands are little wrong. There was small grandstand in front of the tower and long grandstands on the right and the left from the tower.

Thanks! it's hard to find good pictures of Sanair.

Here is the video I used to make my track so far.  It's the 1985 CART race.  There is a tour where Derek Daily drives the pace car around and it shows it "in car".  I thought the grandstand may have been different in 1985.

I'm sure I will make more changes. Many of the details are hard to get. For example the infield is full of trucks, trailers and different things. I'm just going to use some of the default icr2 trucks that I stole from other tracks.

Looking good. Don't know if any of the old Cart races have blimp footage? That would help.
