Dennis tracks

I think, I have found the problem. I forgot one step. Shame on me. Let's see, if it works now.

Update: I had to read the tutorial again, I forgot the last conversion. I have some trouble with making .dat files, but it works.

The next problem is an old one I asked 3 years ago. I have the problem at the elevation changes, that the track is floating in the air, and I can see the cars through the road. Does someone know a solution for this? I looked at other tracks, and they have hills under the track as 3do objects. If this is the only way, what is the easiest way to fit them to the track as good as possible?

Good question, I have been out of editing so long I don't even remember if I knew this.

After I saw, that I can't make good videos, I tried to make track screens for the track menu. Because I make a fictional track, I don't have photos, so I wanted to make a screenschot from OPE. But I can't open the track in OPE. On my old computer I had the problems only later at the object placement, but I had no problems to open the track in OPE.
I've got this as error.

About to do joystick...
Joystick code worked okay
Raster began
pmTable available at 000c2f19 (23 bytes)
Couldn't load "sky.3do"
Error loading track "track"

My sky.3do and track.3do have changed since 2014.

I think I have really bad luck today, or I don't see again some stupid things, like at the last time.

Is using a generic N3 sky.3do file an option? I usually had a set around lying around which I used.
Also, make sure you have all needed mips.

Yes. It's for the picture in the track menu. And if I need it later too at object creation, at the end I can switch it back to my sky.3do.

I'm still struggeling with the track screens. Meanwhile I can open the track in OPE, but it crashes, when I want to draw the whole track. So I took a screenshot from 3doEd and added the horizon in Photoshop. I made the .bmp files as described in the tutorial, but I can't convert them to .stp.

Tutorial:
"Start up WinMip and choose converting .bmp files to .stp and convert all your freshly made .bmp files to .stp files."

At ICR2, N2, N3 and GPL there's no option to convert .bmp to .stp. At N4, NR2002 and NR2003 there's the option, but if I try to save the .stp file, WinMip hangs up, if I set a type number for the .srb and try to save, I get an error message.
If I try the batch conversion, I set the conversion to Bmp->Stp, select a .bmp file, and it says .stp not found. If I select an other .bmp file, I get Run-time error '55': File already open, then WinMip crashes.
I tried it also in the other direction. It is only possible at N4, NR2002 and NR2003. I took the .stp files from Daytona, and tried the Stp->Bmp conversion, there I got the message .mip not converted.

Is there something wrong with Winmip? I use version 2.16.6.

Does someone have an idea, what I should do? If not, would someone convert my files? I don't want to spend more time with this.
My original plan was to publish the track only, when it is complete. But you had to wait already too long for it, so I decided to publish the nearly blank track, and probably make updates later. I only need these track screens for it.

Did you try this ?

http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=10919&st=0

The last one in last post opens .m16 files while others crashes, maybe it opens .stp files.

I've just took a random .jpg image, converted it to .bmp, then to .stp (with 2 differents n4 winmip2) with no problem, maybe your .bmp is corrupt one way or the other ?

With WinMip 1.2 I could convert an .stp file to .bmp and back. Now I have to figure out, what to do with my .bmp. It could be a palette issue, wrong file format or missing file.

Update: It was quite complicated, but I have it now. I have to take a look on the colour palette, because at the moment I have a red track map, but I don't expect more problems. Tomorrow I will make some screenshots, and then you can suggest a name.
