As I promised yesterday, here are some screenshots of my track, to get a first impression of it. A video would be better, but I couldn't make one in an acceptable quality.
Now you can suggest a track name and location. Please send me your suggestion in a private message till Sunday evening. I will choose one of them. The official release will be on Monday.
Some details about the track status.
Layout: Final road course layout. Small correction on some run-off areas and on the pit entry may come with the oval track.
Track textures, horizon, sky: Final.
AI: Version 3. The first two versions were too aggressive, this one probably too, but racing shouldn't be easy :-). I didn't get enough feedback, so I hope the AIs are fast enough. Feedbacks are welcome, I will consider them at the updates.
TV cameras: Provisional. Final positions come when the track is completed.
Objects, details: No objects or details yet. I hope they will come in the future.
Considering that the facility can change from road course to oval, and that the track plan sort of looks a little like one, what about naming it Chameleon?
It's possible and it has a good chance, because no one else had an idea till now. So come on guys, send some good names in private message. And location too.
Here is the first version of the Chameleon Road Course. I wish you a lot of fun with it.
The first challenge is to find a good setup. It's not easy because the track is long, and has many different and tricky corners. I'm curious, who will beat at first the 2 minutes lap time.
I shortened the pace lap, because I'm sure, no one want to drive a 4 minutes pace lap and start the race with extreme cold tires, so the real race length is 48 laps instead of 47, because ICR2 doesn't count the first lap.
I made a new attempt on object creation, but again no luck.
There were damaged mips with the test object and they made problems. So I changed the textures of the test object, but I've still got the error message at the N99->ICR2 conversion, like 3 years ago. Pavel suggested me to convert the .3do files to def and back, but at the conversion to .3do I got an error message, about missing offsets.tmp. I had to make an empty offsets.tmp file to make the conversion working. After this I compared the new .3do file with the old one, and there was 1 different byte in the file. With this file I could make the N99->ICR2 conversion without an error message.
ICR2 starts normal, the track appears in the track list, but if I want to start it, there comes the message "Problem loading track".
So I made one step forward, but I still can't reach the "finish line".
Today I made a successful conversion of my track with an object for the first time. The problem was at the conversion from DEF to 3DO. I didn't have the makeofftmp.exe in my folder, that was the reason, why the offsets.tmp file was missing.
Now I can start making objects. I hope, I can report some success soon.

I need to learn from you. I have some tracks that are naked (detroit downtown, 1991 for example) and I want to put objects in them. I figure it would be easier to learn first putting objects in other people's tracks that don't have them.
At first, you can download the track building tutorial from the "Tutorials" menu. Follow the instructions and if you have a problem, maybe someone here can help you. You can also read Pavel's threads about track and object creation here on the forum. As you can see, I am a beginner in object creation, so in that field I can't give you much help at the moment.
