possible track to convert?

i was always wondering if anyone tried converting the gt3 complex string for gpl (i think) for icr2. i think that's probably one of the most technical tracks created and it was pretty fun to drive in the game as well.

Do you have a download link or a link to the track in the GPL Track Database ? Because I'm not sure which track it is that you are talking about.

used an alternative gpl database and found this: http://gpltd.bcsims.com/?dis=C . its right in the middle of the page.

i also saw a rsc thread for this track and it said that the ai was crap, although i don't know the process of converting gpl ai for icr2 (if it is even done at all) but the track was pretty good.

Clicking around I find this...

I wish conversion from GPL was (seemed) easier. Looks like alot of good ones!

About the track, thanks for the link. I don't think that track would work in ICR2. There are many parts where the track gets too close to another part of the track. In N3 and ICR2 this causes warping. You could try but don't hold your breath Smiley Also, I would not want to spend too much time on it myself because it does not look very interesting to drive to me. But I have never tried the GPL track, maybe then I would feel otherwise.

I wish I was more focussed on converting the GPL tracks that DO appeal to me Grin3 so I could get more done. So, champs, you are right in that sense, it's not hard but you can run into problems and there are always things like track screens and .lp files to consider [but one can do without track screens and AI is not really required on a trainer track anyway]. But if you want to try your hand on a track you can try studying the GPL->ICR2 tutorial and look up the things you don't understand in the other tutorials. And you can ALWAYS try asking stuff here of course.

If I had a PC that was made this century and and a better understanding of the assumed DOS .exe knowledge the tutorials suggest, I'd love to spend more time editing and experimenting. But for now I am reduced to minor color and/or texture changes and this type of thing.
Believe me, if I the PC to do this stuff I would. It's just too frustrating right now.
So I understand the policy is, don't ask, read the tutorial... 'were here for you'
And I'll take you up on the support when ready.
I thought I'd share the page of tracks... I didn't ask anyone to convert the collection.
hey, it's ok, whatever

Ummm.... Champs, you sound a little aggrevated. Your help in supplying me the link to the track was much appreciated and I understand that you were not trying to get me to convert the complete GPL TDB... which should cover every track ever made for GPL, quite a task ! The other part of my post was directed towards Ctkatz and only explained why this track does not appeal to me [even apart from me being 99% certain that it would not work in ICR2] but of course anyone can try converting any track they wish with the tutorials and that help is indeed here when needed.

My apoligies Tjerk,
I misinterpeted your comments as another, "Do it yourself..." response to suggestions or observations made.

It is easy to mis-read the tone of email messages.
my apoligies~

if i only had the time (and the machine) to do it, i'm sure you're tutorials would be a great fix.??as it is, i have trouble getting scratchbuilt tracks compiled while following the directions. :\ but thanks anyway for giving it a look. maybe someone later on could come back to this and fudge some things a little if its even possible, but who knows.

i know i sound like an ingrateful bastard (Wink2), but out of curiosity, is there any word on what projects people are working on (other than the ed)?

Oh yeah, there are a few people working on projects Wink2

You know Edmonton, but haven't seen this one yet (I may hope)
