in race breakdowns
#1
When I had ICR2 1.0 (or whatever the non-patched verson is) my car used to break down from time to time in the races.

I don't know if it's a coincidence, but ever since I upgraded to the latest version (I think it's 1.03?) I haven't seen a breakdown.

I've done probably 15+ races at 100% length.

I double checked and it is set ON in the menu.

Has anyone else noticed this as well?

Ok- so I did have a breakdown at homestead during my race the other day, but they seem rare. I wish there was an (easy) way to modify the breakdown possibilities/chances...

Hey Man,

I've been doing some try and error on this as well. Wish that I could have posted something earlier on this topic but I didn't had any serious success this so far.

Only thing I've figured out so far is that there ain't no difference between 1.0.0 and 1.0.2 to me as breakdowns seem to be quite as rare. To me it seems more like there are some carsets that bring more breakdowns than others. For example: I am having an IRL 2004 carset that I got from the worldindy-site, I guess. Most of the breakdowns occur running this set in both patched and unpatched version of the game. So I assume that there might be something in the drivers2.txt that influences those breakdowns.

Im going to check differences inbetween certain values for the next step.
NR2003 by Papyrus has a little more detailed driver rating but there isn't a "breakdown-value" as well. It's more about the MINs and MAXs of a set of values. This might work for ICR2 as well.

Why would you want to have a breakdown? That's why i don't race 100% anymore because when i do i always have engine or gear shaft issues near the end of the race when i'm 20 seconds plus ahead the 2nd and i never ever won at surfers paradise ( which makes twice the frustration).

NR 2003 is the most realistic simulation ever...if you mess with your gears you can expect to have issues later.

I like the simulation to be as realistic as possible. Breakdowns are a real problem in racing.

I could be onto something here or probably not. but while doing a full Sim of an AI season i noticed some cars were breaking down much more than others. i did notice these cars having high aggression settings. what impact that has on it i don't know but it's something i did notice.
