Lost tracks
#1
I went on a track search to whether I got any tracks on my HD(s) that possibly noone ever saw. I am going to post them in this thread. Anyone he thinks he has lost gems on his computer is free to post here as well of course.

Occasionaly I will do a check on the tracks and Tjerk might upload one or more to the archives. In that case we will remove some of the attachments and refer to the archives.

If you post a track, please add some description or possibly a screenshot of the track.3do, so everyone knows what he is downloading.

Anyone who wants to take up one of the tracks as a personal project, go ahead.

Anniversary

This is a track by BB&B, the SCW track builders group. This track was build with tracktools developed by BB&B and not the N3 Sandbox we are using today.

It is a twisty roadcourse with no elevations. Length is undetermined as none of the editing tools can be used to check on the trk. The track.txt says 1,950 miles, but Foxman told me BB&B always used Portland as a base, so it's probably the Portland txt file.

The track has NO AI

Firebird

Again a track by BB&B. This track was build with tracktools developed by BB&B. Subsequently the track has no visible textures (as the Anniversary track). Length is undetermined and AI does not exist for this track. This track is build after the existing Firebird track as the east part of the track.

This is not the same as the one Gtjul has converted for N3 (see SCW board for that one)

Foxring

This is a 12.329 mile roadcourse by Foxman. Only a layout exists with some elevation, no objects were added and neither AI exists for the track. The track is based on real public roads. The track has an interesting mix of long straights, blind sweepers and parts which need good steering. Setting up for this track is very hard. Too much wing and you lose out on the long, long straight. Not enough wing and sweeping the turns is very hard.

Houston

This one shouldn't be hard to guess with that layout. The BB&B guys created the Houston track with their tools. Again, no textures, no objects are AI exists for this track.

Houston 2 and Houston B

For the Houston track several layouts were proposed initially. With the help of a great map Edwin Roman provided me I was able to come up with some sort of an edit. That one was thrown in the dustbin when Champcar decided it was too dangerous not to put a chicane in.

Both versions are added. Both were early, early betas which never came past the stage of laying out the basics. No runoff exists, so don't even expect objects, AI, camfiles, etc. The laptime is rather slow, but you should realise at the time of creating my hand was in a plaster.

Iowa

This is a rebank/resize job of the Pikes Peak track which resembled the Iowa track the best. I have to say that the result is very interesting and feels very racy. As with all tracks so far, AI, objects and other stuff is missing.

Monaco

Wait, stop.... Stop drooling. This is not the F1 Monaco. This is also not the GPL F1 Monaco. This is the GPL F1 Monaco and then edited.
What did I to it? First of all, I chopped out the hairpins after the Casino and replaced them by a downward drop towards the tunnel. Rollercoaster....
The hairpin before the S/F line has been widened to allow a. to go through it, because I couldn't even make it at full lock and b. to make sure your car wouldn't end up at the other end of the Mediterranean when the game thought the sections were too close.
