Homestead Roadcourse
#1
Guys, after the discussion on Barber Motorsports Park yesterday, I decided to post Homestead Roadcourse before adding any objects, etc to it.

Please look at the track, take a spin and provide me with feedback to improve. I first used a Toronto setup, which usually helps me very well on these kind of tracks, but as Toronto goes clockwise, while this track goes counterclockwise it might be the reason I am not as quick on this track as I am used to do. After changing it to one of my Vancouver setups I went below 70seconds and the track runs pretty good. Some hard turns still.

As said, feedback is appreciated. This track will be beautified and be used for the IIRS Hotlap competition.

Hi Sander,
I've tested Homestead and it looks good, AI should work well. But I think infield must have some elevation chages. From videos it looks like turn 6 is lower than all other parts.

I have spend some time watching videos as well and I think you're right.

From what I could see it goes a bit up at the end of turn 3, down into turn 4 and up again out of turn 4 towards turn 5. Turn 6 is a bit harder to judge on the videos I saw, but there is definetely upward elevation from turn 6 to 7, so I am pretty sure you are spoton on turn 6.

I might leave it like this for the IIRS run and then change it later. I am a bit in a timesqueeze for my holiday and better take time on the final version.

Edit: after watching some Grand-Am footage. The lower turn 6 is much more visible there. I first watched 2008 footage and after that 2009 Grand-Am. Did they change anything in between? More probable is that the video camera was lower on the Grand-Am car than on the Audi video I first checked.

Trackpedia had some good info on the turns untill 8, which confirmed my views on turns 3, 4 and 5.

Yes, Trackpedia has some good tracks descriptions. I used it for Mid Ohio.

Sander, Why did you decide to make GrandAm track layout and not full road course (withou all oval parts)?

The reason is that in IIRS the Grand Am schedule is used for the Hotlap Competition, so Iirsdirect John Howlett asked me about the Grand Am version.

The full road course is on the list, but has less priority.

For the Hotlappers, the download is the current version. A new version will not be done for the Hotlapcompetition in accordance with IIRSdirector John Howlett.
