Surprise whilst my vacation

Hi there,
This topic may seem to be off-topic first but you should read till the end.

I have been in in croatian city called Pula on and in the adriatic sea. But to be at only one place would be a bit boring wouldn't it? So I made trips to some other near towns like Porec, Rovinj and Motovun.
The last named town is not a town cause it has only 900 inhabitants.
Motovun had an interesting history. It was under Italian influence since 1278. And it was Italian till 1945 and belonged to Yugolslavia after that year.

But one motorsport legend was born there which I didn't knew before and you all know his name:
Mario Andretti.

Well, Italy changed a bit over the years. Their neighbours and Italy squabbled a bit about the borders from time to time.

How did you get to know about it Oli? Was there something in honour of him there or did you just hear it from the locals?

His accomplishments in the US might have gone unnoticed to the general public in Italy and the rest of Europe, but he did very well in F1 too of course. So I am curious if there was anything to commemorate that where he was born.

In trips to some towns near Pula I have read in a touristic book that "Motovun" was recommended. But being there and reading one "city guide" of Motovun gave me the sentence that Mario was born there.
Just a coincidence!
I didn't knew that earlier...

(But the streets around this place are great and seem to explain the racing genes in Mario!)

I've just checked Mario's bio on his official site and the story is confirmed!
