Despite long discussions Arto Koivuranta has left Salas Racing Team. Arto was confronted with reallife issues surrounding college and came to the conclusion that he would not be able to fully fill in his position at SRT.
After this decision Salas is now actively looking for a new driver, preferably someone who is willing to race both the ovals and roadcourse series. However, two drivers who will both do a championship each are also welcome to send in their interest.
Edit: it turns out that Arto Koivuranta, even though going parttime will run a fulltime schedule as a member of Scandinavian Racing. This came as a big surprise to his former teammate as well.
Still there are no hard feelings as Arto has helped Salas to numerous teamtitles in Ladder Series, regular IIRS oval and roadcourse series and Winter Series. He also won one driver title as Salas member and added several impressive oval wins to his list.

I can tell you that Team 56 Sim Racing is taking the rest of the Winter Series off.
I ran the race at Michigan, but that's the last one I am running.
I don't know if I will be running in 2007 or not.
Time will tell.

Jim, are you running in N2003 next year, or taking time of simracing completely?

I'll be sad to see you go Jim. Not only are you the last guy from the 2001 rookie class, but you've always been a very positive influence, and an asset to the league.
I'll have to dig thru the stats and pull out your records. I know one off the top of my head - Most Laps Completed. I don't think anyone will catch you in that dept for a long time!

Newsflash: Just in from Tilburg, the Netherlands
Salas Racing Team adds driver to roster.
After the news that Arto Koivuranta will leave Salas Racing Team starting the 2007 IIRS season, Salas driver Sander Maas went on a driversearch. With the addition of Team Lightning driver Tjerk de Heer to Salas Racing Team Sander Maas thinks he has found the perfect driver to complement the team. Team Lightning driver Tim van Duren indicated to his teammate that he very well may not be able to compete the complete season and mentioned he did not have a problem if De Heer would look for a full time teammate. This way Sander Maas and Tjerk de Heer will continue together in Salas Racing Team, while Tim van Duren will keep on defending the Team Lightning colours.
Tjerk de Heer has won several races in 2005 and 2006 for Team Lightning as well as capturing the IMS rookie of the year title in 2005 and the road course teamtitle together with Van Duren in 2006.
Sander Maas has captured multiple teamcrowns together with Arto Koivuranta and has won individuel titles in both the Ladder Series and the Oval Series.
