Best controller for old games like ICR2
#1
Which is the best controller (wheel model i mean) for old pc sims (win9x and dos) like icr2?

I have for my main pc a logitech driving force pro usb (the one with 900 degree), but it cannot be detect on dos.
Which controllers do you use? It has force feedback? If yes, it can be used well with non FF games too?

Thanks in advance for answers Grin3

I've got a USB Microsoft SideWinder steering wheel and foot pedals. No Force Feedback. I've got the Windows version of CART Racing so I can use this wheel. Not sure if it would work in DOS though.

Hi,

I have a MS SideWinder too and it works fine in the DOS version. However, I only runWindy and I have a problem to callibrate it. My DOS instalattionĀ  doesn't allow me to save the control settings. Note I run the DOS version of Cart Racing on top of the Windows Me and not on real DOS.

I believe there is a patch for the DOS version of IndyCar 2 to solve the controller set up not sure if there is on for Cart Racing.

Anyway, I am happy with my MS sideWinder. I use the Windows wheel SW to assign the "6 Speed Racer" buttons to some of the Fx keys, so I can easy access race and car info when driving. Theis is possible since software that comes with the wheel kind of emulates the keyboard keys.

Hi,
It is USB. I don't think there is gameport versions of it.
I does not have FF.

Reagrding it being USB, i don't think it matters if you run the DOS version inside Windows. Windows will take car that the controlers installaded in Windows will serve DOS applications. Well it does work for me!

i have to run it onto dos real mode, because rendition ready indy can be run only onto real mode, not in a win dosbox.

I'm running in DOS and use the Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbo...cingwheel/

It does have a force feedback option but ICR2 doesn't exploit that, obviously. However it does provide resistance when cornering and it will autocenter the wheel, which is handy.

To connect it to my computer I have to use the Xbox Wireless Gaming Receiver: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbo...greceiver/

I haven't been able to get it to recognize the padels behind the wheel for shifting yet.
